Mount Madonna Fifth Grader Competes in Divisional Climbing Competition

 
Kudos to Mount Madonna School fifth grader Ben Pearson, who competed in the American Bouldering Series (ABS) divisional climbing competition in Reno, NV on January 10. He competed against boys between the ages of 8 and 11 in the Youth-D category from Division 1 which incorporates northern California, Washington, Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, western North Dakota, and western South Dakota.
 

Caitlin Gray-Harley: Debut EP Project

Mount Madonna School senior Caitlin Gray-Harley is in process of applying to several music schools. As part of her application process, she is working on a debut extended play (EP) recording. 

“Help me fundraise for my EP project,” Caitlin asks. “I’ve set a goal of raising $13,000, and you can , pledge as much or as little as you want through my Kickstarter.com campaign. Help me spread the word!”

Eighth Grader Performs at Regional Dance America Festival

Three Mount Madonna School students, all dancers with Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre (SCBT), recently participated in the Regional Dance America (RDA) Pacific Region Festival of Dance in Phoenix, Arizona. The students, fifth grader Milana Beck, sixth grader Riley Butler, and eighth grader Amelia Busenhart, represented SCBT at this showcase event, and Busenhart, a member of SCBT’s senior company, performed in a company ensemble at the festival.

Innisfree is Releasing Their First Full Length CD!

Congratulations to Sarojani Rohan and Martin Krilanovich on the release of their first full-length CD, “AFTER THE TOAST”!

Their band, INNISFREE, which is a Celtic trio, also includes Dubliner, Richard Dwyer.

Innisfree has been playing on both sides of the mountain for several years now and with this latest formation of musicians has reached a new level of musicianship and performance.

Fourth Grader Places in Gymnastics Competition

Congratulations to Mount Madonna School fourth grader Addysen Abmont, who recently competed in the Nor Cal Zone Championships gymnastics competition in Monterey, where she scored a 1st Place on Floor Exercises and 2nd Place All Around. This season she has placed consistently in the Top 5 All Around and has even placed 1st All Around at the Pink Invitational in San Mateo. Addysen has State Meet for Level 4 this weekend, November 19-20.

MMS Students to Perform in SCBT’s “The Nutcracker”

Mount Madonna School students Riley Butler, 5th, and Amelia Busenhart, 7th, will be dancing in Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre’s (SCBT) upcoming production of “The Nutcracker,” December 16, 17, 18 at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium.

Riley has been studying dance for six years – four of them focused on ballet, and with SCBT for three years. The upcoming show will be her third “Nutcracker” with SCBT and she will perform the role of “Baby Mouse.”
