Name, age, grade, city of residence:
Alexander Marshall, 18, 12th grade, Watsonville
What inspires you?
I am inspired by nature, making music and listening to music.
What is your favorite subject in school, and why?
My favorite subject is probably performing arts, mainly because of the aspects of community, friendship and love that come from the process.
If you had the power to change one thing in the world, what would it be?
Hunger and poverty, because it seems that the world is ravaged by these epidemics, and I feel that these could be easily solved if everyone worked together to make it happen.
If you could go anywhere, where would you go?
I would go to Canada because I love the idea of sitting in a cabin near a warm fire in the middle of a snowy mountain range. I have never been there before.
Name one big challenge in your life right now:
Change and letting go. I hate the idea of a learning a certain lifestyle, becoming accustomed to it and then having everything change. Sometimes I kind of wish that I could just stay at this school forever.
What is your dream job?
I’d like to be making music as a fulltime career, possibly producing electronic music or making acoustic music with my guitar, or maybe both combined!
What are your three favorite things?
Music, running in nature, and playing video games with my friends
Favorite book:
Even though I’m not really a reader, Homer’s story of The Odyssey has found its way into my heart somehow. It’s not even about the story so much, although I loved it. It seems to be a way that I have found to look back on my progress in this school. Every time I walk into the English classroom, I think of that story and my nostalgic feelings affiliated with it.
What do you want to do after high school?
I want to write music and live in a treehouse within a giant forest.
Something that makes you smile:
My friends, music and cross country
A favorite MMS memory – and why?
Hiking and finding Little Red, and singing random songs and doing shenanigans with Cameron. This is my favorite moment because it always reminds me why I stayed at this school: nature and friends.
Top three most played songs on your iTunes:
Devotion by Tristam
Queen of Your Heart (featuring Augustus Ghost) by Tut Child
Synchronize (featuring Aaron Richards) by Hellberg
