17th Annual Summit for the Planet

April 29, 2023

For more than 40 years, Mount Madonna has maintained a commitment of fostering global citizenship by bringing our students to understand different cultures and values. Recognizing that global citizenship encompasses a deep respect for the environment, we looked to the framework of the United Nations (UN) 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to guide us in developing our event plans. The SDGs are an urgent global call to action by the UN who “recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.”

Mount Madonna School is excited to hold the 17th annual Summit for the Planet walk-a-thon and eco-carnival! This event is a fun-filled day on the Mount Madonna School campus located at 491 Summit Road, Watsonville, CA 95076 in the heart of Mount Madonna County Park. Join us in the morning for our walk-a-thon that winds through enchanted trails lined with majestic redwoods and eucalyptus trees. Catch a glimpse of Monterey Bay at the finish line where you will be greeted with delicious vegetarian fare and live music. Wander the eco-carnival and enjoy games, live animals, a solar car race, trash fashion show and more!

Mount Madonna School’s Summit for the Planet is an event dedicated to raising awareness for our home, planet Earth – how to care for it and ensure it stays vibrant and healthy for future generations.

There is no cost of admission to Summit for the Planet. If you plan on attending and enjoying this wonderful day, please consider a contribution to Mount Madonna School. To those who have supported Mount Madonna School through a student or general donation, we thank you! We look forward to celebrating with you all on Saturday, April 29!
