Reusable Utensils Needed!

Dear Mount Madonna Families,

Our class is working on a project to reduce waste at school by replacing all of the school snack bar disposable utensils with metal reusable ones (silverware).

We began our project by gathering data in the snack bar. Each day we put 50 of each utensil out. At the end of lunch we would count how many were used. On a typical day students use 42 utensils. On some days, however, we use as much as 100 utensils!

To reduce these numbers we want to replace the current utensils with reusable metal ones. We have raised money to buy some, and it would also be helpful if you have any silverware to donate. No need for them to be new, any silverware will do! If you have utensils to donate, you can drop them off at the school office or send them up to school with your child to give to our teacher, Nicole Culbertson.

Thank you! – the Ninth Grade Class
