Boys Volleyball, March 12: MMS defeated SLV 25-9, 25-15, 25-19. Noah Tervalon had 33 assists, Ronan Lee and Ben Pearson had 10 digs each. Pearson had 20 kills and Lee made 10. Tervalon made 4 aces, Lee had 3.
Track and Field, Week of March 2: On March 6, the Hawks had a robust showing in a meet held at Watsonville High School. Octavio Moreno was a strong winner, placing 3rd in both varsity shot put (40′-06″) and varsity discus (99′-02″). Eight teams participated in the meet, and the MMS Freshmen/Sophomore women’s team placed 3rd overall, with a score of 56.6 points. Among this team’s achievements:
- Eve Willis, 1st place (14.50) and Liana Kitchel 2nd (14.67) in the 100-meter dash.
- Mariah Cohen, 1st place in shot put, with a throw of 28′-01″; a throw which would also have given her 1st place in varsity as well! Mariah is currently ranked #1 overall in the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League for women’s shot put!
- Zoey Ocampo-Sobkoviak, 2nd place in high jump (4’02”) and 3rd (13’10.5″) in long jump.
Boys Volleyball, March 6: Last night the Hawks played Monterey and won 25-15, 25-20, 25-15. Ben Pearson had 13 kills and 12 digs, Ronan Lee, 8 kills and Octavio Moreno, 5 kills. Noah Tervalon had 26 assists and 7 digs. Addy Catterall-Pendleton and Jimmy Bregman each had 7 digs.
Boys Volleyball, March 4: The boys varsity season is underway! The team is 2-1 in pre-league play. Some match highlights so far include Ben Pearson with 22 kills, Noah Tervalon with 32 assists, Ronan Lee with 6 aces against Pajaro Valley, and Addy Catterall-Pendleton with 16 digs versus PCS. The team’s next pre-league gamesis at home vs Monterey on March 5. Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play begins with a home game against San Lorenzo Valley on Thursday, March 12.
