Drive for Schools 2015

Drive for Schools Thank You!

We are sending out a sincere “Thank You” to everyone who participated in this year’s Drive for Schools campaign. Our ticket sales raised a total of $15,598! While nobody in our community won the car, three MMS families won prizes! Many of our students did an outstanding job of selling tickets.

We want to celebrate everyone’s hard work, collaborative spirit and success as classes. This type of community effort greatly benefits our school as a whole.

Our top ticket sellers this year were:

  • Sera, PreK
  • Sophia, PreK
  • Giavanna, Kinder
  • Harrison, 1st grade
  • Eduardo, 2nd grade
  • Shirin, 3rd grade
  • Bridget, 4th grade
  • Paris, 4th grade
  • Taylor, 5th grade
  • Riley M, 7th grade
  • Phoebe, 10th grade

We want to thank everyone for helping our children to feel empowered and enthused in support of their school. All of the money earned from such events goes right back into our 2015-16 operations and program.

Our kickoff to this school year’s fundraising opportunities is the Annual Drive for Schools; this is an exceptional fundraising opportunity because our school keeps 100% of the proceeds from every ticket sold! We need our students and families to help us utilize this opportunity to raise $20,000 or even more because it is at NO COST to our school!

Students have been very successful in selling tickets to neighbors, at church, family gatherings, in front of local businesses (Deluxe Foods, New Leaf, Trader Joe’s, Safeway etc.) Remember, with this raffle you need not be present to win! Because all of the schools in our region are participating in this drawing, to insure success, start selling your tickets early! Our Middle and High School Students have also succeeded by selling tickets via social media to their friends and family members near and far.

This year, the Grand Prize winner will have their choice of a brand new Toyota Prius or, a Subaru Outback (including tax, title, and license). If the winner isn’t in the market for a new car, there is a prize of $25,000 in cash instead! They will be giving away ten $1,000 cash prizes, plus over 100 additional prizes. For more details and info, please go to www.beachboardwalk.com/driveforschools.

Tickets to enter the drawing are sold for $5.00 each or 6 tickets for $25.00. All checks should be made payable to Mount Madonna School or ‘MMS.’ Please ensure that each ticket purchaser fills out the entire ticket stub-you will return that portion of each ticket to the office. It is very important that give the large piece of the raffle tickets back to the purchaser so that they can claim their prizes. If you can sell more tickets, please contact the Development Office at 408-846-4032.

If you will be unable to sell tickets, please return them to the office immediately. Each student has been sent home with a packet of tickets to sell or if your family prefers, you may purchase them. Selling tickets is not a requirement but we believe this is a community building opportunity for our students to work together doing something that empowers them to each be active in support of their school.

PLEASE return ALL stubs and unsold tickets by Wednesday, October 14, 2015.

The drawing will be held at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk on Sunday, October 25th. Remind your ticket buyers-they do not need to be present to win. Questions? Ideas? Do you need more tickets? Contact Kiersten Elzy-Loving, Director of Development at 408-846-4032 or email

Working together, we can make this most successful Drive for Schools yet!
