Remote Learning – An Appreciation During Unprecedented Times

In March we made the unplanned transition to remote learning. Although this is not the learning environment teachers, students, or parents are accustomed to, the community has come together with support and encouragement. Below are some of the responses we have received from parents regarding their remote situations:

We cannot tell you how grateful we are for the way you have handled this event in our lives. Your response to the coronavirus has been nothing less than exquisitely professional. You have gone above and beyond to provide our students with the structure they need to carry on as students and as human beings during a very difficult time. You’ve treated the students and the families with compassion and respect. We could not have asked for anything more for our daughter and for our community. — parent of 7th grade student

It is an interesting experience to go through “learning in COVID-19 time.” We are very grateful that MMS has put together a remote learning plan quickly. The “live Zoom” classes and gatherings are helping them staying connected to their friends and teachers. I feel our children are engaged and have a sense of purpose. Thank you. — parent of 2nd, 5th and 8th grade students

— In the midst of spring break, Lower School Director Kami Pacheco sent a message to lower school families about remote learning for Pre/K through grade five students and spring break ideas. A parent was moved to share her response:

Thank you so much for this! I am feeling full of hope and empowered to make the decisions that are right for my family after reading this email! This is the most compassionate, positive, and empowering message I could have received in this crazy situation.

I have been holding a lot of guilt and stress about the way our family is set up and how that supports or does not support our children meeting expectations for distance learning…Now I am feeling excited to, and capable of, working with them to create a learning experience that works for them and our family as a whole.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. — parent of 5th and 7th grade students
