Class of ’22 Senior Spotlight: Jimmy Bregman

My name is Jimmy Bregman and I’ve lived in Santa Cruz all of my life.

Grade you started at MMS:

I came to MMS starting in freshman year, which was a very weird change coming from a Catholic school.

What inspires you?

I really, really enjoy puzzles of any kind or more generally anything that needs a solution. I find that I am the happiest when I am working on a difficult puzzle or brain teaser.

What is your favorite subject in school, and why?

I really like AP Physics because we get to learn about a lot of cool things like space-time and gravitational waves.

If you had the power to change one thing in the world, what would it be?

If I had the power to change anything in the world I would make sure that everyone had access to a good education.

If you could go anywhere, where would you go?

I’d love to go to Alaska to see the aurora borealis.

Name one big challenge in your life right now:

I struggle a lot with staying organized and keeping myself on track.

What is your dream job and why?

My dream job is to become a rally car driver because I really enjoy driving and watching rally driving.

What are your three favorite things?

Cars, fried chicken and volleyball

Favorite book:

My favorite book is “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. It’s a novel following the lifelong adventure of a Spanish shepherd that journeys across the world in search of riches. I really like how you never know what will happen next, which is one of the major themes of the book.

What do you want to do after high school?

I want to work as an automotive performance engineer or work in fabrication.

Something that makes you smile:

I’m always smiling when I play with my volleyball team against a good opponent.

A favorite MMS memory – and why?

My favorite MMS memory has got to be the walk up to school we did where we woke up at 4:00am and walked for ages to get to school. It brought me a lot closer to the upperclassmen at the time and was such a blast.

Top three most-played songs on your favorite playlist (please include song and artist):

“Moving Fast” by Lil Darkie, “Electric Relaxation” by A Tribe Called Quest, and “Lovesong (The Way)” by Charlie Burg
