Guest Photographer at “Ramayana!”

Joining the crew as a guest photographer at “Ramayana” this year is Preston Merchant, who has volunteered his time and talent for many years to help visually document this show. You may see him photographing rehearsals and the behind-the-scenes preparations at the theater in the week leading up to the performances.

Preston Merchant taught photography as an adjunct professor at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism in New York and was a featured artist in the Smithsonian Institution’s exhibit “Beyond Bollywood: Indian Americans Shape the Nation.” His solo show “Indiaworld: Images of the Global Indian Diaspora” was on view at the Olive Hyde Gallery in Fremont, California in 2019. His pictures have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, NPR’s website and other places.

Photobook collections of Preston’s photographs from the 2014-2021 “Ramayana!” productions will be available for purchase in the theater lobby.

We are thankful, as well, to have the additional photographic talents of faculty member John “Welch, parents Kevict Yen and Stevan Manzur, along with many other generous volunteers!
