When twelfth grade students at Mount Madonna School (MMS) began gathering donations for heir upcoming “global” field trip to India, student Renata Massion contacted Bill and Linda Pope, owners of The Print Gallery in Santa Cruz, a screen printing and embroidery business, to enlist their support.
“I immediately thought to contact Bill and Linda, when we started asking for donations, because I knew of their previous generosity,’ said Massion. ‘My class is grateful to have these donated shirts and very appreciative to have a local business donate, especially one with such a strong connection to Mount Madonna; it is a testament to the good will and support that Mount Madonna inspires.”
‘We were happy to help the students and community with this worthwhile effort,’ commented Linda Pope, who teaches fourth grade at MMS. ‘Two years ago we gave another MMS class dozens of shirts to donate to organizations they visited in South Africa. So when Renata approached us about this current effort, we immediately said ‘yes.’ It’s nice to know the shirts will go to good use in a place where there is such great need.’
The Print Gallery donated some 13 dozen t-shirts to the students, who will depart on their two-week India trip in March. The students continue to raise funds to donate to the Sri Ram Ashram and other educational organizations they will visit. To make a donation, contact teacher Shannon Kelly at
