Children’s Mask Recommendations

While the layers of mitigation strategies have been effective at limiting the transmission of the virus at school, we anticipate that the number of positive cases in our school will rise. Therefore, we encourage families to send their children to school with a snugly fitting surgical, KN-95 or N-95 mask. Masks should fully cover the nose and the mouth. Weekly testing is another method to detect the virus in our community. We encourage families to sign up for the free Inspire Diagnostics PCR test and free Primary Health antigen testing. Since January 2022, the Inspire Diagnostics drive-thru clinics now offer antigen testing for a cost. MMS continues to offer antigen tests to our students for free.

On January 3, 2022, the Food and Drug Administration authorized the booster for 12-17 year olds in California. The booster is available to students through the drive-thru Inspire Diagnostic vaccine clinics. You are welcome to sign up now at sccoe.link/vaccine.

The California Department of Public Health has updated its K-12 Isolation and Quarantine School Guidance. Early childhood guidance has aligned with the K-12 Isolation and Quarantine School Guidance. We ask families to notify me of any student’s positive test result directly. As a friendly reminder, please have your children stay home from school if they are sick or exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.
