Congratulations to Ariel Benson, Mount Madonna School parent and Pajaro Valley School District (PVSD) teacher, for being recognized as “Outstanding Educator of the Month” for PVSD. Benson, who was nominated by her peers, said being selected for this recognition was a total surprise and quite meaningful.
“I work in the position of ‘teacher on special assignment’ at the district level as a Language Assessment Program Specialist. This position has me working outside of the classroom on a variety of tasks and projects that affect almost 10,000 students and families yearly, all having to do with English Learners.
“A guiding tenet in how I approach my work is to relieve school-based personnel of bureaucratic duties by establishing clear and effective systems that allow them to keep their focus on student achievement. I work with classified, certificated and administrative employees from all 32 school sites, as well as with staff from almost every department in the district. Positive teamwork is one of my favorite aspects of the position I work in.”
This award is presented to PVSD educators who do more, and make a greater effort to, improve and enrich the educational experiences of their students.
Well-deserved, Ariel!
