This year’s seniors will journey to northern India in March and April 2013. The trip is part of the School’s two-year “Values in World Thought” program, an innovative high school social studies curriculum developed by faculty member and trip leader Ward Mailliard.
For each student, this trip will be a significant outer journey to another culture, where they will experience a civilization that is far older and significantly different in almost every way from what they know: different in language, history, values, food, religion and social customs. At the same time, it will be a unique inner journey for each student to discover something about themselves as they engage in the many unique experiences of the journey. (more about this program)
The students have been fundraising, partially to cover the costs of the trip (the majority of expenses are paid through tuition) and also to raise funds to donate to organizations who they will be visiting while in India. These worthy organizations include:
- Pardada Pardadi Girls School in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh
- Sri Ram Orphanage, outside Haridwar, Uttaranchal
Our students would not be able to make this extraordinatory journey without the wonderful support of our parents, extended families and greater community. Thank you, in advance, for your contributions to our students’ endeavors.
