With poise and determination, McKenzie Caborn stood at the podium, put aside her nervousness and gazed confidently at the audience of Rotary Club members. Taking a deep breath, she began reading: “On October 17, 2010, a small group of Rotarians participated in the Istanbul marathon and raised $8,000 towards Rotary International’s fight to eradicate polio.
Mount Madonna School science teacher recently accompanied a group of high school students on a field trip to Elkhorn Slough to participate in an annual bird count. Here is Lisa’s description of their hands-on activities:

This is the third year that Mount Madonna School parent Sumana Reddy (Kavi, 10th, Lekha, 5th) has headed MMS’ Model United Nations club. Interest in the club continues to grow, and it couldn’t happen without the strong support and coordination of a dedicated parent leader. Thank you Sumana! The club’s activities got off to a great start earlier this month with their first assembly in Santa Cruz, and several eager new student members. Here is Sumana’s update:
MMS is now a certified “Green” school. We are the first in Santa Cruz Co. to have completed this arduous process.
