Seussical Jr. MS Production Costumes DUE Monday, 10/27

Refer to the attached costume files that have all of the individual character descriptions and costume needs for the middle school production of “Seussical, Jr.” Each character document contains image(s) and descriptions of items the actors will need to gather for their costume.

Play Costumes – Guidelines for Seussical Jr. — 2014

There are many pieces that when put together create the “Magic of Theater.’ Your costume is one of those pieces. Each and every piece is important to the overall quality of the play. It is your responsibility to create the best costume that you are able.

This musical is based on the Dr. Seuss books. Characters and costumes are whimsical, wild and colorful. Some of your costume pieces you will bring in and we may alter or add to them. You may need to bring in a fabric and/or trim as we will be making some custom parts.

Your costume packets consist of the general guidelines, play guidelines, costume descriptions and pictures representative of those descriptions. Have fun using your creativity to put together your
character’s individual look.

Please note:

  • Costumes are due October 27th at 9:00 a.m. in the Assembly Room. Each piece must be clearly labeled with student name inside. Keep all costume pieces together however possible (bags that are labeled and taped together). Being late will affect your grade in Performing Arts.
  • Costume fitting appointments will be made based on which costumes are turned in on time. If the costume is not turned in on time, the fitting will take place after school at the convenience of the Costume Department. You will be responsible for your own afterschool transportation home after the late fittings.
  • Students should be involved in the costume process! Do not make this a parent project!
  • Any and all pieces may require adjustments. Do not bring anything that can’t be altered or changed.
  • Basic fit changes can be accomplished by the costume crew. If footwear is required, the student must be able to perform and move as required safely and comfortably.
  • All costume pieces brought in are subject to the final approval of the Costume Department.

Please read your requirements carefully. I have tried to describe what you need clearly. If you need help, please contact me. Think wild, crazy combinations!
